Tavistock Fringe is a festival of all things musical bringing together our local talented bands, choirs, instrumentalists, performers and dancers in performances which draw crowds from across Devon and Cornwall.

 

Open to EVERYONE and it’s ALL FREE ! 

The festival is held in and around the centre of town – this year we have eight venues with local bands kicking off the event in the evening of Friday 11th at the Stannary Brewery.

Celebrating an amazing 20 years this year, the Lamerton-based morris dancers and musicians are loud, brash, entertaining and colourful.

 

10:00                  MAYOR OFFICIALLY OPENS TAVIFRINGE

10:30 and 12:00        Taiko Journey

This amazing group perform all over the south west, nurturing community wellbeing through drumming.

They are a joy to watch and to listen to, with the thunderous sound of the magnificent Japanese Taiko drum.

11:00              Stannary Brass

 The band was formed in 1995 and is based in Tavistock. Its objective is “to maintain, improve and advance the education of the public through the promotion and practice of brass band music”.

It has helped raise thousands of pounds for local charities and has travelled within the south-west peninsula and abroad to France and Germany.

Fionnuala will bring the lilting and soothing sounds of her celtic harp to TaviFringe 2025.

Her repertoire includes traditional folk melodies celebrating her Irish/English heritage, beautiful classical pieces, Paraguayan harp music and arrangements of many popular songs.

Holly is a young solo singer from South Devon, England.  She loves performing music, playing guitar, piano and especially singing.  Performing varied genres but with a passion for both Rock, Pop and Musical Theatre.  Performances include songs by Journey, One Direction, Barbra Streisand and Aerosmith together with beautiful songs from musicals: ‘Colours Of The Wind’, ‘Heart Of Stone’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’ and many more.

A three-piece covers band reviving memories of dance floor hits from the ’50s and ’60s.

This wonderful brass band have agreed to extend their world tour of West Devon and bring their musical virtuosity and questionable dress sense to TaviFringe 2025.

Excellent players to a man and woman, they are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and a tap to your toe.

BUTCHERS HALL 12th JULY

This is a thriving group with 18 members who play descant, alto, tenor and bass recorders. The group plays a wide range of music from renaissance and baroque to jazz and more contemporary music.

11:00                   Tapestry Choir

The choir is open to all regardless of ability or experience. They perform a wide range of musical genres and perform locally throughout the year.

12:00                The Legacy Choir

A youth choir from Plymouth, primarily for young people in school years 7 and above. It includes nearly 50 members from 13 schools across Plymouth.

The choir is known for perfoming a variety of music and has participated in events such as the Youth Prom at the Royal Albert Hall.

12:30                Levowan Chamber Choir

One of the foremost chamber  choirs in the region with a repertoire covering classical, traditional, contemporary and jazz music, performed to the highest standard.

13:15                Legacy A Cappella

14:00                  South West Philharmonia and Chorus

A fun and friendly choir and orchestra based in Plymouth. They play a wide range of classical music and favourites from stage and screen.

Father and daughter Graham and Hannah have been playing music together for many years. They have been a support act for many well known artists (Martin Carthy, Seth Lakeman, Al Stewart, Roy Harper, Julie Felix, Roy Wood……).

Founded and led by Alison Moyna, an award winning West End performer, the Tavistock Warblers recently celebrated their first anniversary.

Performing for the first time at TaviFringe 2025 to the accompaniment of their own musicians. Plymouth Clog’s striking dance is performed in clogs originally worn by factory and mill workers in Lancashire and Yorkshire.
